Connie Francis – My Heart has a Mind of its Own

First Hit #1: September 26, 1960

There’s something wrong with the vocal on this. I’m not sure if it’s the version I found, the recording technique, or just Francis’ voice, but it sounds pretty poor. That’s a shame, because Francis really doesn’t have a bad voice, and this isn’t really a bad song otherwise. It’s not structurally complex, but it’s one of the better songs about someone desperately trying to forget and move on and having trouble doing so. Rather, the lyrics are some of the better examples of the breed, the melody isn’t great and as I said, the recording itself sounds pretty poor to me. Still, it’s not bad, it has its moments, and overall I can’t help but think that a modern cover might turn out okay.
