First Hit #1: March 15, 1969
For the first time in a surprisingly long time, we have a song that is just a bit of silly fun. Dizzy doesn’t have any great message or deep emotional content, Tommy Roe is just so in love he’s dizzy, which could be a medical condition. It’s a song that’s just stupid fun, and doesn’t make any effort to hide that it’s just stupid fun. Which is perfectly fine, it’s a pop song, and while it’s always nice when pop songs try for great ambition or wild, high-stakes musical acrobatics, just having dumb fun is okay. It’s difficult to say very much about it, because it just isn’t complicated enough to lend itself to deep analysis. It’s fun, that’s all, end of post.
