Dance music has one job, it has to be fun to move to. It can be deep, it can be meaningful, it can be complex, it can be simple, but if it’s not fun it doesn’t matter. Love Train is fun, and that’s all there is to it. It has threads woven into it about unity and connections between people, but it works because it’s got a catchy chorus that gives you something to do while you’re dancing. Whatever the hell a love train is, you get to the dance floor and want to make one, make an ass of yourself, and just have a quality evening all around. Whatever else the song is trying to do, it does it through a filter of being a catalyst for fun.
