Bachman Turner Overdrive – You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet

First Hit #1: November 9, 1974

Canada is your source for big dumb rock with BTO’s You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet. Randy Bachman used to be a member of the Guess Who, but later went out on his own, put together a song with big guitars and an oddly charming stuttered chorus, and made a big dumb rock staple. There’s nothing wrong with big dumb rock, it’s the perfect soundtrack to big dumb moments in your life, a soundtrack for drinking too much and doing big dumb things. BTO was kind of like the Canadian Grand Funk Railroad in that way, purveyors of rock that wedding bands the world over can put in their playlists and facilitate a good time. Of course, Grand Funk Railroad often seemed like an actual wedding band rather than a major artist – they covered Locomotion, after all – and BTO is a bit closer to the greasy bar segment of the population, but that doesn’t matter. There’s a place for big dumb music, and Bachman, Turner and Overdrive are our finest purveyors of the style.
