First Hit #1: August 20, 1977
Somehow, 1977 has settled into a certain groove, with a low key but fun dance sound emerging slowly. It could almost be read as a female response to Gibbs’ track, a song about a woman in love, set to a similar but equally dance-able beat. Just like Gibb’s song, it’s a sincere and sincerely delivered dance song, and it feels like a pretty genuine expression overall. It’s just from the perspective of a woman, while Gibb is a man. They could probably do a duet and make something really kind of special, since the Emotions and Andy Gibb have very complimentary sounds as well as similar ideas for putting songs together. It’s neat to have them back to back, and makes one think that the summer of ’77 was a pretty good time to go ahead and fall in love.
